Students from St. Augustine’s primary school have been with us for the last two weeks taking part in a radio course we’ve been using recent happenings in their school calendar as inspiration for radio articles.
In their first session the students reported on an up coming ‘World Book Week’ event at school where they were invited to arrive at school dressed in the costume of their favourite character from their favourite books. This introductory task allowed the students to get to grips with our sophisticated recording equipment and learn the skills that they would be using throughout the course. [...]
Learners from St. Augustine’s school rounded off their 4 week Read at The Riverside course today with a session in the Riverside Studios studio. In previous weeks they had been reading Collin McNaughton’s Here Come the Aliens, a book from the science fiction genre with a twist at the end. The youngsters prepared a short role play where the a news reporter interviews eye-witnesses to an alien craft landing and performed it in front of the Riverside Studios cameras. [...]
