About
MFC Study Support is powered by Playing for Success, an innovative education programme in it’s twelfth year aimed at improving the literacy, numeracy and IT skills.
PfS centres are partnerships between local education authorities and sports clubs, MFC Study Support is a PfS centre linked with Middlesbrough Football Club.
PfS centres and are vibrant, exciting and stimulating places for young people to learn. More than 300,000 young people have come out of the centres’ doors with improved skills, motivation and self-esteem and, in many cases, a new start on which they can build back at school.
Our Concept
We embrace all things digital and utilise state-of-the-art computer hardware and software and equipment to position young people’s learning in a different context to regular classroom teaching.
Working together with schools, we provide another layer of learning, taking a fresh approach to an already studied topic or introducing a new subject through our innovative syllabus.
Our Learning Environment
Our class rooms are comfortable areas with relaxed couches for group discussions, large tables for collaborative learning and modern, ergonomic workstations where our students can flourish through our creative software.
Above all we create a safe, friendly environment, where our students are guaranteed to be treated with respect, consideration and warmth from both their peers and our staff.
Our Staff
Our expert Playing for Success staff share a wealth of classroom experience teaching young people of all ages and together with our trained volunteer mentors, maintain the optimum learning environment. Risk taking and fresh thinking are encouraged, breeding confidence and self-esteem in our students. All staff are CRB checked and first aid trained.
Our programmes
We offer literacy, numeracy, science and media programmes based upon an innovative syllabus. Much of the teaching is based around using state-of-the-art computer hardware and software and equipment, delivered by expert teaching and technical staff and supported by trained mentors. We can offer a much lower teacher to child ratio and so our students experience a much more personal learning experience.
We have many courses that we can tailor to suit any group of of young people. These courses have been tried and tested and have statistical analysis which demonstrates an improvement in young peoples attainment.
In addition to these off-the-shelf courses we can design a bespoke programme to suit any topic or project.
